Its about the time of the year where the sun shines and the sea glimmers in return, perfect for a holiday. Anyway its always a good time for holiday anytime of the year. But for now, somewhere warm, sunny and tropical. Hahaa i always wonder why does all these photos of south america look so vibrant, so vivid. The coastline of Guanabara Bay in Rio de Janeiro and the Sugar Loaf. Even the name of it sound exotic, although sugar loaf sounds damn diabetic to me. Which is the sugar loaf anyway? The green mouldy one or that thingy stickin out behind it? This warm humid weather, i rather be in brazil. Beach, rainforest, carnivals, football, criminal gangs. =D Sippin a caipirinha lazing around.

There is so much weird stuff goin on that everyone needs a break. Volcanoes erupt and farmers still think their crops are of more importance than their lifes and rich and handsome man are eating placentas. WTH. Everyone should just drop what they are doing and lay back, relax and join the Church of the Flying spaghetti monster(FSM in short) and of course getting a copy of the Gospel of FSM from the Amazon. At least it showed us the graph of the approximate number of pirates versus the average global temperature over the last 200 years. And there is a statistically significant inverse relationship between pirates and global temperature. Isnt it amazing?

Pulau Redang `April 2006

The little huts that we were stayin.

Look impossible to go over to the other side of the rocks right. Well, seriously nothing is impossible.

Omg see how clear is the water. As clear as EVIAN!!

Outside the door.

Behind the door. Now you know why no one stays indoor at pulau redang. Or at least this part of redang.

This is the most rigorous trek that i've been through. I am a pampered kid but just let me remain as one.

Spectacular view. I guess this is the reward for jungle trekkin, how i wish i could just jump down from there instead than to make my way down again.
How did i manage to climb all the way back? The rocks look so damn steep. How dangerous.

Dada da da da! Its my McDonalds! I had Mac for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Egg Mcmuffin meal for breakfast, Filet-O-Fish for lunch and McSpicy meal for dinner. And according to their Nutritional Calculator, I had a total intake of 1794kcal today, which is slightly less than an average females' daily calories requirement. BUT of which, 89% are fats. With these kinda data, its abit hard to convince the public that mac is becoming more healthy just because they tried to portray a healthy image and sell rice burgers(that taste abit like the pink colour heart-shaped kueh that we eat with the black sauce but without the sauce). Nevertheless, they open 24/7, even on public holidays.

And by the way, Techno + Chinese new year tunes is definately a deadly combi.

I feel like im living in a plantation. So close to nature. If you close your eyes, you can just nearly imagine that. The overwhelming aroma of the pots of exotic flowers scattered around the house(that will normally wither by the 4th day of new year). And its simply too much for my olfactory epithelium. The point is even if you like all the spices(cinnamon, saffron, vanilla, star anise, coriander etc.), you cant add all of them in your soup. And it happens every chinese new year. Happy new year.

Rainy days. I had always liked them except when i am stranded somewhere without shelter and/or umbrella when its raining donkeys and giraffes or holding on to an umbrella when the rain suddenly stops. But these days should be deemed unsuitable for work of any kind. The paramount need is to stay indoors snug in a comfortable couch, sipping some hot beverage, reading a novel and not bothering bout anything else. Heavenly.

People is removing all the christmas decorations and replacing them with chinese new year's. Saw the giantic red M&M on centrepoint being transported away by a lorry. Its the time of the year again. The time where everyone smile at everyone else, somehow become interested in each others' life, act nice and pretend to be one big family. Whereas the fact is that i would consider myself to be even closer to hi-bye friends than some of them. Not to mention how kaypo they are. And the usual conversation will goes something like the previous years' or the year before that. Most of the time, one will comment on something and the rest will suddenly be all agreeable nodding their head in unison. At times, they find you being left out or overly quiet sitting around listening to their conversation (actually eating whatever there is on the table) and they will try to rope you into the conversation as well. Cant they see im more interested in the piece of mandarin orange in my hand? And somehow the weather is always scorching hot on that day. I just dont like chinese new year. Well, maybe except for the angpow part.

This is how i start my 1st day of the year. Went back to work all the way at tuas. And when is the last time you take a non-airconed bus?

Its a brand new year again. Myanmar seems so long ago. Last year. Anyway, there was these so-called WHITE elephants (at least thats what they claim) that i saw there. Its not excatly white to me, more like brownish dark yellowish color. But its something that they pay respect and worship and its so great that no photos are allowed. Im sure they will feel offended if they know what does white elephants symbolize in Singapore. Redundant that is. Hahaa

I always say it was an annus mirabilis last year. New year resolutions are the same as well - Sleep more, work less. Put in less effort but gain more out of it. Sometimes, I seriously think i might just get along very well with murphy.

Im starting to get tired again. Duh.

I went to Yangon which was no where near the golden triangle, ergo there was no mafias, no druglords & no poppies. There is nothing communist that i can see. No giraffe neck women walking around with pots on their head. No Aung San Suu Kyi obviously, but theres a Bogyoke Aung San market that was named after her father though. Anyway its an amazing place.

Wednesday, December 07, 2005

When someone mentions some place, some kinda image conjures up in your mind in that instant, something significant or somewhat prominent that represents the place. At times you have no idea how did all these got into your mind in the first place. Some examples.

Costa Rica - Beach, sun, sand, bikini babes.
Egypt - Pyrimids, camels, sand, arabs, nile.
Greece - Buildings made of stone, sculpture of naked man.
Tibet - Yaks, monks in red robes, ancient temples, snow, kungfu masters.
Madagascar - Some cartoon animals
Italy - Soccer, sexy man sellin pizza, vatican church.
Turkey - Kebab
Maldives - Scuba diving, sea, honeymoon.
France - Eiffel tower, romantic french men, wine, escargots.
Philippines - Maids, bananas, Arroyo, tagalog, black eye peas.

And guess what Burma/Myanmar reminds me of? Communist, military, giraffe neck women, Aung San Suu Kyi, golden triangle & druglords. Im half expecting mafias holdin on to AKs movin around the jungle on jeeps equiped with .308s guardin their poppies. I shall see.

Sometimes i think its simply not ethical or adhering to any moral principles for anyone to induce or produce any strong odour/scent/aroma or whatever strong smell that could possibly cause discomfort to any individual especially in confined spaces. Its always the overwhelming air freshener or the wretched body odour. The insignificant aircon reduced to a minimal and yet still wearing thick winter sweaters or maybe even latex underwear. Anyway, air freshener is not much better either, it just makes me think of what the person is trying to camouflage and so my mind creates an even greater fetid fiction.

Btw i got another silly catchy tune stuck to my head again.

I-like. I-mode.

Was surfing the net when i saw this:

We were the saviours! Haha that was like 5yrs or so ago and manjusri's website have not been updated ever since. I think the 3rd person from the left in the front row is me but i couldnt be absolutely sure either. How many mega pixels was that anyway? Its amazin how technology advances, 5yrs and people are already usin 8 to 10 mega pixels digital cams. 10 years down the road and we could be using gadgets that are like pagers to our moblie phones or discman to our mp3 players. We will be mockin at ourselves over our current technology illiteracy while lookin back at the photos that we had taken. "Omg i was using that sony 3.1mega pixel cam at that time! My new 4.3giga pixel cam is so much better." This makes me feel like gettin a new cam again.

The day after a public holiday always feel like a monday to me. So to think of it, in the past 7 days with today included in, there will be like 4 mondays out of like 8days. And in addition, 4 of it are non-workin days. When is the next public holiday??

Thursday, November 03, 2005

I love all public holidays(even deepavali). =D
