Chinese new year seems to be the longest festive season ever. Christmas is nearly as long but the festive mood dies off pretty soon but for cny theres like 人日 and whatever chinese valentine day. Apparently im quite bored during chinese new year. Still remember the story of 年 the monster. Every household will hang up red stuff and make lotsa noise to ward off the monster. Hahaa myths and fables.

Wow did you drew that? Since when did "nian" became a one eyed monster? haha.. It's very comical though. Well I thought these stories are probably created by intellectuals who thought that deep meaningful short word stories are just too profound to the people at that time, which were not very well educated. I believe the message that people want to get across is how they fear the change from one year to another, the uncertainties. So they created a false creature out of these ideas, so as to make people understand that thought better. Who knows it then became a monster literally.
Haha yea but i think this 年 look too "angmoized" but its not too bad at least theres chinese clouds. Anyway why must everything be made complicated and have a reason behind? Haha leave some things simple and let it remain as a myth for kids to listen durin their bedtime, a story without an author handled down by tradition ;)
Haha true also lah... Simplicity is the best in this rowdy and complicated society. Just saw the news on AsiaOne today about a 9 year old girl who had gave birth to a boy. OMG... What's wrong with our society? Just felt really disgusted with these people. Suddenly, nian became a very cute monster as compare to such people. Probably Nian Gao is Nian's fravorite food! haha
