Thousands of years ago (Vedic dark ages), some inhabitants of india believed that Earth is supported by a serpent (Arya texts), some believed that Earth was supported on a giant tortoise, and still some believed that Earth was carried by giant elepants, which in turn were balancing on the back of a huge turtle, which itself was perched on the top of a stupendous 1000-headed snake. There were other beliefs like the universe was orginated from the egg and the earth floats in the sea of wine(Alcoholics). See! What else is there to say? Its in the genes. Fuckwit.

Was watching Jacelyn Tay show on tv. She ate the half-cooked, tasteless-looking food without much savoury condiments and still look as if it taste great. But she look hungry to me. I just didnt understand why diet stuff usually cost more than the usual thing. Normally the product will come in a lighter shade of colour, with the word REDUCE or LESS in red on the packaging and will cost more than the normal one. (e.g yakult, coke etc.) It has reduced sugar/less calories and all but why are people paying more for less?

This is the time of the year again for me to take a breather from all my eccentric sleep patterns. (Or at least for the 1st couple of days.) Call me superstitious if you wish but i simply feel uneasy with all the people stickin joss stick all along the sidewalk and with the candles burnin and offerings scattered around. And what is it with that big board with all our MPs on it with bright lights all around? National day? Or tryin to remind us that the writ had been issued? Hmmm off to bed.

One was tellin me that the oyster boy stories are awfully morbid. Yeah i know its no romantic idyll but thinkin back, the popular books, movies and stories are mostly filled with gruesome deaths, heartbreaks, suicides, traumatic expriences, bloodcurdling murders, vengeance, controversies or bitter childhoods. Are they any better? And surprisingly, none of these belongs to some morbid psychology offshoot from english literature, but rather they are squarely in the mainstream and are loved by loads. Like batman witnessed his parents death and is keen on revenge. Snow white's mum die on durin childbirth, had a evil step mother and ate a poison apple. (Not to mention cinderella.) Peter Pan lures the darling children away from home to be forgotten, doesnt accept love, kidnappings, fights with pirates, evil mermaids and finally returnin them home, while he is left outside without a family. Forever. Then finally the new Harry Potter volume where people all over the world camped overnight outside bookstores waiting for its release. And Harry's parents were murdered, an evil wizard is comin after him and some main character is goin to die.

Fairy tales tell us that there are perils, but we can survive them usin wit and live happily ever after. But oysterboy tell us they dun happen all the time. Wahahahaa

How could one feel lost and excited over the same issue all at the same time? Psychological ambivalence again i guess. Lookin at previous posts, i sounded so damn depress over graduating but upon recievin my seat number and the 2 invitation cards to the graduation ceremony, i feel all excited again. Who's goin to sit next to me? Who's attendin it? What am i goin to wear? Haha suddenly it feels so cool to graduate, its not something that happens every other day. It doesn matter that its just a diploma and all. I've graduated! Wahahaaa

And did anyone notice the ads on the bus stops? First, there were normal boards with the ad on it. Then, there comes the rotatin ad thingy. And of course those tuition, swimmin, house rental ads pasted on the board with a phone number that ya can tear off. After awhile, theres this 3-d ad trend that creative advertisin firms came out with and thus, becoming very popular. E.g. gifts on top of the bus stops, the fortune god cap on the bus etc. And now all of those mention above.

Very recently, theres this particular HSBC one at ps with 2 divers standin on top of the bus stop and the pillars and ground is pasted with this hideous lookin dark background with fluorescence worm-like thingy (i assume that are corals la since there are 2 divers standin on top) But seriously, those stuff are not just ugly, but revoltingly ugly. It appears more like some highly fluorescent nematodes, bacteria or fungi seen under the fluorescent microscope with the right filter, at least to me. The murkiness of the background make it look as if you will fall right into the eternal abyess of darkness packed only with fluoresence nematodes, bacteria and fungus when you step on it(or rather into it). Its so damn disgustin can? They wanna show the deep blue sea, then show the clear waters with sunlight penetratin and a school of brightly colored fishes swimmin. Why the murky sea, as if there is a thick canopy overhead? Arghhh and its also dangerous too. There are(is?) people who find it disgustin and didn want to step on it and so they have no choice but to stand on the yellow line. Hmpf when are they goin to remove that ad?

Began the day with a terrible flu, had naively thought some fresh air and good food will do me good but ended up drenched. Heavy rain today, interspersed with promising (deceptive?) periods of bright sunshine. Still sick, but its almost a pleasure. Curled up safely in bed, listenin to the storm outside. Later.

1st July'05 - A sudden realization that im no longer a tertiary student. My red ezlink imprinted with the school logo produced this awful "DAAEEE" sound upon tappin the reader instead of the usual chirpy "didi". And this reminds me especially when im fillin out forms or signin up for stuff online. Im not excatly a student anymore but i couldn excatly say that im in any of the listed industries. I feel lost as its like bein stripped off a title suddenly or something fundamental like the sun left the sky sort of thing. Hmmm okay, not that drastic. Haha but maybe they can just add "in transition" into their occupation or industry lists, people could feel better.

It has been nearly 2 months, of paradox and of waitin. It is a short time that seems long and a time in which everythin, and nothin, seems to happen. And it appears that i am consumed by the pleasures of the everyday - good food, sleeping, reading, skating, friendship, internet, games, the natural world - whilst never being far from the monotony and the feelin of emptiness. Crap. And apparently i have too much time to think.

Sometimes i wonder if everyone around me will grow up to this certain age and start actin old. As in really old. Where conversations are mostly in the past tense, startin every story with introductory retrospections on past events that had taken place in that halcyon years and usin words like "used to", "if i was younger", "in my younger days" or "you are too young to understand" too frequently or even develop a likin for those newborn monstersbabies that cry too much. Couldn imagine how life can possibly go on that way. Suddenly i could understand how Peter Pan feels.

Anyway, i was on my way home when i saw this tough lookin guy in a jacket lyin on the pavement after a bike accident. He seems to be in pain. This scene suddenly reminds me of something i that i had wrote a few years back in my portfolio.
"I had chosen the shell as its hardy and robust exteral usually portray a deep sense of strength and defensiveness as it give sanctuary to the life within. A shattered shell is a sheer oxymoronic example of it, the eventual breakdown despite its strength, urging people to stop and take a closer look at our vunerable life."

Somehow, reading the same words over doesn bring back the same feelin. i guess nothing have changed except my own perception.

Sometimes i dont understand how did all the junk mails ended up in my mailbox. I am constantly winning lotteries or free membership to gyms and i am so-called randomly selected base on their NEW java-based software. I have got so used to the junk mails humdrum existence that i click on the delete button almost instantly. But one day, i stopped and think. "What if its true?" 2 million euros, it didn matter whether it will be paid to me in 4 installments or as a lump sum. I could do alot with it. It simply ask for some of my information but no sensitive credentials needed. So what is there to lose i ask myself. Then i click the delete button. Haha maybe im abit low on oxytocin or something but still i couldn bring myself to trust an email like this. Or maybe im just behind the times who doesn even buy a t-shirt off the internet even though i dont even try t-shirts before i buy them but because i need to look at the t-shirt, touch the t-shirt and be assured i will get the my stuff once i pay. I am just old-fashion traditional.

And lately advertisement is gettin more ridiculous. One about gettin a genuine colleage degree in 2 weeks. No Study required! Plus academic transcript and student records are all available. What an attractive offer. They even added a short paragraph to explain this "legal loophole". And it is suppose to be a secret that has been kept quiet for years whereby the legal loophole allows established colleages to award degrees at their discretion. And with all the attention that these news are generating, the loophole should be closed in no time. So we should call up that number and order now right before the loophole closes and pray hard that the authorities will close one eye on those who ordered before this organisation got busted yeah?

I am glad. I can play Maplestory again and whack green jelly globs and finally the month of may is over and Rob Thomas is no longer the artist of the month and get to have his mtv played over and over again. Im sure coldplay would be so much better. I simply cannot stand Rob Thomas shakin his ass like a fag to the lonely no more music. And now i got the crazy frog's axel f tune stuck to my head.

"A BASIC science degree qualifies you to wash test tubes. A master's makes you an advanced washer. And a PhD makes you an ordinary worker."

"That is the harsh reality in the world of science. Growing a mass of 'warm, intelligent bodies' is therefore the key to building Singapore's research capabilities"

"This is the nature of the game; a PhD is essential. The real value-added element is the brains and people. You can have buildings and labs - they can be easily replicated - but what will drive research are the people."

All this are said like 3yrs back by some recently quite infamous guy who is sittin on the top of this world-class scientific research organisation. It would be very discouragin if i saw this when i first got into poly, but damn it, right now im not even qualified to wash test tubes. And that was back then, now they have disposable test tubes. No wonder we learn bioremediation in school. We have to know what can we do with the test tubes after they are being thrown out by the degree holders.

Finally, the photos. Things seem to be takin place concurrently, the melancholy in the air. Sometimes i simply couldn picture myself in a workin environment of any kind in a month or so, but maybe givin myself one month is more like makin a parody of myself. Then again i think i rather be bored readin electoral manifestos at home. Anyway, since i am so exceptional and lead such a felicitous life, i should be able to find my ideal job soon enough. Hah of course that is true, i am so fortunate that i seems to have won some millons of dollars in china, not once, but twice. And they didn even contact me usin sms, i had phone calls lookin for me. How interestin, i am one of the potential victims of the latest china sms scam. Bored.

And now i know why people can stay in tioman for the rest of their lives.
